Permeant strategies could include expanding metered parking and eliminating city-issued parking placards, which advocates say encourage government workers to use their cars. Riders Alliance proposed new solutions to traffic including HOV restrictions, transit discounts and restrictions on city-used parking permits. NEW YORK- Mayor Eric Adams called for more congestion pricing exemptions on Tuesday, the day before an MTA vote to move ahead. During the highlighted dates, car traffic is expected to reach an all-time high, making it incredibly difficult to get around in a vehicle. The report’s recommendations are split into “temporary tactics,” “policy priorities” and “permanent strategies.”Īmong the temporary fixes proposed are “pop-up” busways, restrictions on vehicle occupancy in the most congested areas, transit fare discounts and higher parking fees to discourage driving. The first city-declared Gridlock Alert Day of the holidays is Thursday, as some get an extra-early head-start. Adams wants MTA to consider some congestion pricing exemptions 03:14. Gridlock Alert Days often come with the holiday season when more visitors travel to the City. “There is no way to cut gridlock and also allow more cars on the road.” DOT identifies these days by collecting and analyzing traffic data from past years. “New Yorkers who ride buses are marooned and essential service providers like FDNY, EMS and HVAC repair are left stranded,” the report said. This is a supplementary report to the published Weekly Traffic Advisory and Weekend Advisory. The group claims the “well-meaning” gridlock alert days don’t actually help curb traffic in New York City. This alert lists areas where major street construction projects and street events will interrupt the normal flow of traffic. Riders Alliance’s policy brief asserts that the “well meaning” alerts do little to alleviate the pressure on everyday New Yorkers, particularly those who depend on city buses to get around. This month’s gridlock alert days are Dec. This alert lists areas where major street construction projects and street events will interrupt the normal flow of traffic. Whether traveling for work, errands or recreation, please consider walking, biking or taking public transportation whenever. The city Department of Transportation designates gridlock alert days during high-traffic events, namely September’s annual United Nations General Assembly and the December holiday shopping season. Answer 1 of 4: 'NYC DOT designates the busiest traffic days of the year as Gridlock Alert Days. ![]() A lot of projects are being shopped around by studios and the overwhelming answer from North American Studios is "nope, can't do it." There are no major studios in north america with pipelines capable of handling a major hand-drawn project at the moment - which is really weird. Very time consuming, and is literally a dying art. Method 2 is traditional hand-drawn animation. This is by FAR the more popular method these days. You have "puppet" style animation, where assets are created beforehand, and then posed/deformed/transformed in order to acheive the look and animations you are after. ![]() These days, you can really split animation into two distinct groups. I happened to catch it in theaters both when it first came out in the states and last month, and the animation really has held up well, so good job on Ghibli! I'd guess that it was used to composite some of the stunning action shots, where cel animation was layered on top of 3d backgrounds. There have been a LOT of advances in the past 20 years related to cel shading and full 3d disguised to look like 2d, but it's largely still possible to tell them apart from hand drawn animation.Įdit: Looking at the Toonz site, it seems they claim it was used on Mononoke. ![]() It's important to distinguish 3d from digital coloring and animation, as they are very different, and result in distinct looking animation. Mononoke was the first feature-length movie where Ghibli introduced some CGI/3d elements, but their testbed for it was the music video On Your Mark. Minor correction, cel animation was used up until Mononoke at studio Ghibli, everything after that is digital ink and paint (however, still largely hand drawn). Learn how to identify mistakes and places where you can improve, and don't ever stop trying to do better than you did previously. It teaches you basic anatomy, shading, structure, light effects, line weight, everything that's applicable to animation from realistic animations to cartoons. Whether you're working from references or going to community classes or free sessions, or just drawing the people that are walking by whilst you sit on a park bench, life drawing is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Life drawing is so fundamentally important. There's a nice mix of 2D and 3D animations, and though some of them leave much to be desired, some of them are really good.Īlso, it should be stressed now rather than later - LIFE DRAWING. It's generally a competition website but it's a great resource for audio files and bite-sized animations that you can analyze to see how people portray movement, dialogue, timing, composition, etc. Note that this website is only really meant for digital, not so handy for traditional.ġ1SecondClub: This is a great place to observe animation techniques of other animators out there, many of them just starting out, some of them more experienced. Some of them are only available if you pay, but there are a ton (like, more than enough) of them that are available for free. Has great tutorials on lighting effects, Photoshop tools, proper usage of references, layouting, etc etc. To add my own list of great resources, here are a few nice websites:ĬTRLPaint: A great resource for digital drawing techniques in general. If you really find that you are passionate about animating and you want to keep learning and head down the road to mastery, get a copy of it (even better if you can get the Extended Edition, but the difference between both isn't too much) but that sort of thing is only helpful when you've gotten to that level to do that sort of stuff. It's got a flurry of references to different kinds of walk cycles, perspectives, etc. Haha, looks like some folks beat me to the punch!Īs it's been said already, Animator's Survival Kit is great, but only really as a reference for people who are already animating. ![]() This game basically has no story content outside of the openining cutscene. The Game reminded me of Atlus' (excellent) Catherine for a bit, with the block puzzles and general themes. After Playing The First set of Dungeon's (basically the tutorial), It was clear it wasn't that, I expected some crazy over exaggerated japanese story to kick off (around the actually decent gameplay), with some explicit content in it. I was expecting something light weight, and relaxing that didn't require a huge brain or time commitment and was perhaps mildy sexually stimulating. I jumped into the game kind of expecting a different sort of experience to the one I got. I saw the R12 rating and done some research, obviously finding about the so called "R18" version of the game, I installed the unoffical patch immediately before playing. I thought it was kind of cool something like this could actually show up on steam (on the front page), as it gives it a greater feel of legitimacy, and I couldn't resist the low price. When I first saw this game on steam I thought that it would be a game in a similar vein to Illusion Software's titles, based around the neat-ish concept of Cindrella. The Game has pretty much been summed up in other reviews, but I just want to give a quick insight. ![]() The game works, and works well enough to be an enjoyable experience for anyone who isn't frustrated at puzzle games yet and wishes to sit there pondering the next course of action! For a £3-4 game, you can't really say you're not getting what you're paying for. There are a couple of customisation options in this version, not as many as the R-18 version you can purchase, but honestly, for such a game I wouldn't really worry too much about not having a skirt disable feature or jiggle physics slider- if this is something that you can't live without then I guess you should get the R-18 one, but this is basically the same game. The levels for the most part look the same and you'll probably end up well accustomed to the textures of walls and blocks, and the model of Cinderella herself (which looks alright in my opinion) The levels are rather open ended, so you can solve them multiple different ways.Īs many have said before, the game and its story are pretty short, but is novel and unexpected compared to the look of the game. There is also some jank in the hitboxes of the swinging axes which can be pretty frustrating if you're not thinking and just going by appearance. I also won't deny there are some rather janky mechanics due to the Unity engine allowing you to have a 'cheap' and unintended solution to a level. The game is simplistic, I will not deny that. I haven't completed it yet, but I've been longing to play the game since played the demo a few days before the release date. ![]() Use the 3 actions to solve the Puzzle and reach the exit.įantastically quirky short puzzle game.
